For easy I2C verification an small I2C-Board could be used.
It could contain more periphery to be testable:
I2C EEPROM, SPI Flash, I2C Port expander with LEDs to indicate success of tests, CAN too complicated, just use PC-Application, Direct LEDs for output blinking
The 1V8 SPI flashes could be used for that.
The board has an 1,8V LDO, an PCA9306 for level-converting and an flash;
8 Testpoints;
LDO could be "MIC5504-1.8YM5-TR";
Level-Shifter
8 green LEDs, 8 red LEDs.
Other Flashes should be on seperate boards.
The pinning should match the I2C-Output of CANIO connected to breadboard.
